Local Government

Video conferencing, audio conferencing and data conferencing

Local councils are increasingly finding that video conferencing provides the mechanism to deliver services in a cost effective way.

Councils JKC have supplied toAn example of our support to local government is the work we have done and continue to do with South Tyneside Council.  Here we have installed at their main site a video and data conferencing facility, that enables meetings to take place with colleagues at other sites as if they were in the same room.

Our ongoing work with South Tyneside Council is in the deployment of video kiosks. A successful pilot study has taken place where a video kiosk was used as part of their “one-stop-shop” approach to delivering services in the community through the use of technology.

The video kiosk was installed in a customer service centre and provided the public with a high quality video call to the relevant council department through the touch of a button.

County libraries are now grouping library locations with video conferencing technology to benefit library users.

The councils are helping schools implement video conferencing, and JKC work with them to provide the products and support for this. JKC is also working with some of the video conferencing providers to schools, such as Global Leap, South West Grid for Learning and Devon Curriculum Services.

Another aspect of our support for education and the curriculum is our work with the Teacher Training Association and Dorset County Council.
